North P&I

The Challenge

North P&I is a global leader in marine insurance for incidents involving piracy, pollution and oil spills, collisions, groundings and cargo damage. It enjoys a prominent global presence and is operated from the banks of the River Tyne on Newcastle’s Quayside.

It selected Shout as its partner to dramatically improve its online presence and help it to reach its customers, positioned across the globe, more readily through online services.

The Solution

The key solution from Shout was to develop a dedicated, cross-platform, smartphone and web-based app that would allow for much quicker access for any member organisation and its staff.

Given the remote locations of many of its members’, Shout developed a system that would allow for the updating and syncing of the most current data, even when members were offline.

To support the mobile application, Shout also delivered a range of other improvements for North P&I’s online presence that included an updated website that was in keeping with North P&I’s commitment to produce a more engaging brand identity. These web based improvements included, in partnership with Gray Page, the integration of a live global map to indicate current and historic maritime threats and incidents.

The dedicated app enabled wider brand awareness, greater loyalty and engagement with North P&I from its customers.

In use worldwide by a number of North's members on both web and mobile platforms, the tool allows for much quicker and more accurate reporting of issues. It has improved the accessibility of the services that North provide to its members with functionality such as the vessel search and GPS capabilities and has enabled North P&I to offer much faster response times.

Data Synchronisation

The North site and mobile application are synchronised from a single, central database to ensure all critical data is valid and up-to-date ; a solution which has reduced the time and cost of managing the both the site and associated app.

The Result

The improvements made to the website and the introduction of the mobile applications have enabled wider brand awareness, greater loyalty and engagement with North P&I from its customers. They have allowed North &I to communicate more effectively with its members through engaging platforms that keep the importance of their service, strength and quality at the forefront of their offering.
