About the role
We are looking for a a proven Lead Project Manager/Head of PMO to lead our project management team, championing best practice and developing the ways of working to support our growing business.
You will have experience operating in a leadership role and managing a team, gained within a digital/software environment. You are highly proficient in Agile and have experience of mentoring fellow PMs in Agile methodologies.
Working within a successful and growing digital agency, this is a visible and influential role that will require hands-on management of complex client workstreams and programmes, as well as leading the Project Management team.
You will be responsible for building on the Ways of Working already established within the team, to create and implement a strategy for the Project team that is in line with not only the department goals but the wider business goals.
You will have a team player mentality and want to support the wider client services team.
Role objectives
- Manage the team of Project Managers
- Review, evaluate and provide visibility to leadership of ongoing issues/risks/progress across client delivery
- Managing workstreams/projects/programmes to time, budget and quality
- Maintaining the governance to ensure this can be done effectively across all client work
- Developing and maintaining positive, productive relationships with client stakeholders and their delivery counterparts
- Manage risks, issues and scope changes effectively
- Lead by example within the department, and ensure your team have the tools and training they need
- Build on existing Ways of Working to create and implement a strategy for the Project team that is in line with department and wider business goals
Role requirements
Our ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate the following experience:
- 5+ years' experience as a Project Manager
- Leading fellow Project Managers
- Successfully delivering complex digital workstreams/programmes/projects
- Overseeing multi-functional project teams that include UX, Creative, Developers and QA Personnel
- Budgetary control and stakeholder reporting
- Compiling scope of requirements documents, progress reports and change control documents
Through your experience and past training you will have developed the following skills:
- Excellent understanding of software development life cycle models
- Expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices
- The ability to blend project management practices in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment
- Ability to effectively manage multiple workstreams at a given time
- The ability to meet with clients and confidently drive face to face and virtual meetings
- Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and IT individuals at all levels
- Strong analytical, planning, and organisational skills with an ability to manage competing client demands
- Best practice understanding of the use of appropriate tools, such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Microsoft Project and all Microsoft Office tools.
