Principal Software Engineer - Server Side.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced server-side developer to join our friendly development team, based at our Newcastle HQ.

Principal Software Engineers working as part of the server-side developers team are responsible for the development and maintenance of web applications.

This involves working closely with our creative team client-side developers to implement and develop complex, interactive and data-driven websites.

As a Principal engineer on our team, you'll also be contributing to our wider success through mentoring other developers, and supporting the commercial team developing proposals and evolving briefs.

Department: Server-side developers

Hours: Full time role, based on 37.5 hours per week.

Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne (3/2 hybrid working).

As a Principle Software Engineer, you will:

  • Design and develop C#.NET solutions.
  • Design and develop infrastructure, cloud and IaC
  • Implement MACH design patterns.
  • Design and develop content management solutions using the Umbraco CMS or Sitecore.
  • Write and execute unit tests.
  • Capture requirements whilst liaising with project stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support for existing applications.
  • Provide written documentation (technical designs, guidelines, whitepapers) for internal and external users.
  • Communicate appropriately to clients and team members.
  • Keep up to date with the latest technologies and trends in software development.
  • Estimate/triage/implement solutions for P1 support incidents and below.
  • Escalation point for unresolved support incidents approaching SLA breach (P2 and below).
  • Ensure project delivery adheres to architecture and technical specification.
  • Inform PM in sprint planning, backlog refinement & sprint management.
  • Attend business development meetings.
  • Offer guidance and support to Senior Software Engineers and Software Engineers.

 

Our ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Solid experience of .NET web & application development experience using C#
  • Experience of fully developing solutions using Visual Studio.
  • Experience working with the Umbraco CMS
  • Good and effective communication skills
  • Ability to solve technical problems effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to work flexibly, and to tight deadlines to meet the demands of a client led business
